May, “False-positive IRESes from Hoxa9 and other genes resulting from errors in mammalian 5′ UTR annotations,” shows that putative IRESes from Hoxa9 and other mammalian genes generally encode transcriptional promoters and splice sites. Such features can be used to predict their activity in bicistronic reporters. The paper has generated awareness for public data, demonstrated the importance of data reproducibility and shown the need for proper experimental controls.

[/et_pb_blurb][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”1_3,1_3,1_3″ make_equal=”on” _builder_version=”4.21.0″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”1_3″ _builder_version=”4.17.4″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.21.0″ _module_preset=”default” text_text_color=”#000000″ global_colors_info=”{}”]

Ph.D. student Brendan Gallagher and postdoctoral fellow Aleksandra Klimas each received a Stupakoff Outstanding Research Paper Award for their work as first co-authors on the paper “Magnify is a universal molecular anchoring strategy for expansion microscopy” published Jan. 2 in the journal Nature Biotechnology.
