Brett Benedetti (Ph.D. ‘10)
began a new position as associate director on the research programs team at The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research this fall.

Debarati Bhanja (B.S. ‘19)
is currently a clinical research associate at Biomotivate, a health technology start-up working towards creating a digital therapeutics platform for people with substance abuse disorders to predict and prevent problem behaviors.

Katie D’Aco (M.S. ‘09)
is currently a scientific consultant at Diamond Age Data Science, which does custom bioinformatics work for biotech and pharmaceutical companies.

Michael Gamalinda (Ph.D. ‘14)
is now a consultant for research and development at Bayer Strategy & Business Consulting.

Alys Cheatle Jarvela (Ph.D. ‘14) and Tim Jarvela (Ph.D. ‘13)
welcomed Zachary Alexander to their family in April 2019.

Andrew Kehr (Ph.D. ‘15)
began his position as assistant professor of biochemistry this fall at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. Andrew and Jackie (and daughter Elna) also welcomed their second daughter, Ada, this year.

Amber Lucas (Ph.D. ‘18)
and her startup company, Impact Proteomics, which she co-founded with Biological Sciences Professor Jonathan Minden, received a National Science Foundation Small Business Innovation Research Award for further development of their universal proteome sample preparation technology. 

Olivia MolinarInglis (Ph.D. ‘15)
became a UC President’s Fellow at the University of California, San Diego, where her work in the Trejo lab is focused on delineating cell signals that control endothelial barrier stabilization and cytoprotection.

Phillip Nantawisarakul (B.S. ‘17)
began his medical school training at the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2018 after working as a staff scientist at the Max Planck Institute of Psychiatry in Munich, Germany.

Julie Phillippi (Ph.D. ‘05)
was promoted to associate professor with tenure in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.

Nina Senutovitch (Ph.D. ‘11)
began her role as senior scientist at Essen BioScience, Inc. (a Sartorius Brand) in 2019.

Emily Simon (Ph.D. ‘18)
is currently an associate at McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm.

Irtisha Singh (M.S. ‘09)
is starting as an assistant professor of molecular and cellular medicine at Texas A&M University.

Jing Wen (Ph.D. ‘12)
is currently a portfolio analytics and strategy manager in the retail lending department within PNC Financial Services Group.

is enjoying his fourth year as a fiduciary financial advisor with MassMutual Financial Group and assists in research part-time in a lab at Stanford School of Medicine.
